CARNEGIE HILL

The northernmost neighborhood on the Upper East Side.

Welcome to Carnegie Hill

Once considered to be less stylish than other neighborhoods in the Upper East Side, Carnegie Hill is now one of the most sought-after and prestigious residential areas in Manhattan. Named for the Andrew Carnegie Mansion, Carnegie Hill is the northernmost neighborhood on the Upper East Side. Here, wood-frame houses and Neo-Gothic mansions border apartment buildings on the sunny, tree-lined avenues. On the side streets, brownstones with stoops sit next to townhouses. Many of the old mansions have mostly been converted into offices for organizations, such as museums and universities. The neighborhood’s leafy character and proximity to Central Park virtually ensure its continued popularity.
